Independent Visitor/ Mentor

Opportunity No.10

Purpose • To advise, visit and befriend a child or young person in residential care, a foster placement or living in the community. • To enable a child or young person who is ‘looked after’ by the local authority, to have contact with someone who is independent of the Social Services Department. • To provide an adult friend for a child or young person who has little or no contact with members of their family.

Volunteer for Special Needs Club for adults

Link Club is a social educational group for young people and adults with special needs. Volunteers help with Art, Games, sport quizzes, also opportunities for volunteers to run their own activities with the support of the Group Leader. Play Worker

Incredible Kids is a group for families with children who have additional needs in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. It is a fun place where families can come along and play in a safe, secure environment. The group provides mutual support for parents. We run a play session at weekends as well as an after-school club. On a typical Saturday we have about 60 people attending our sessions. Incredible Kids meet in Christ the King Church ,Bradley Stoke on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Physiotherapy Admin Assistant

Admin assistant required at The West of England Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre. Duties will include answering and returning telephone calls, making and altering appointments for clients, inputting data on the compute, filing, photocopying and general computer work, researching of equipment for clients and assisting with weekly checking and cleaning of the physiotherapy equipment. The benefits will be meeting new people and working within a fun and energetic fundraising team, learning new skills, getting to know your community and helping to make a difference to a great cause. References and/or CRB check may be required depending on the role. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Drop-In Session Volunteer

The Southern Brooks Community Partnership office is looking for Drop-in Session Volunteers at Coniston Community Centre. We have a Training Room with an IT suite and funding to provide targeted learning support sessions and open access IT sessions to people in the local community. Role of Drop-In Session Volunteer: * To greet training room users and brief them on using the room as required * To lead drop-in sessions in one or more of the following:- IT/Job Club/Homework/Home Schooling sessions * To be present during drop-in sessions to provide help and advice in using the computers when needed * To signpost users to other sources of help when additional information is required.

Family Support Volunteer

Contribute to the provision of a family support service to meet the needs of children, young people and their families as an outreach worker and support the development of a preventative strategy for vulnerable families. The role requires * To provide a low level of support to vulnerable families to help them with any difficulties they are experiencing * To keep up-to-date, accurate notes and records * To liaise with Family Support Workers on progress with families * To attend relevant training and supervision * To have a working knowledge of the SBCP Child Protection policy and procedures.

Volunteer Assistant Youth Worker

The Youth Work Team provides a range of activities and support for young people in Patchway and surrounding areas. These are exciting times as we have just taken over Patchway Youth Centre. The team are looking to work alongside a network of energetic volunteers to work on art and music projects. The role would contribute to the provision of positive creative activities to meet the needs of young people. This may include opportunities to support arts activities, music nights, outreach work, detached youth work and film nights. The role also requires to keep up-to-date accurate records and notes, use a database system and attend relevant training and supervision.

Cafe Assistant

The Brooks Cafe based at Coniston Community Centre, is a community meeting place offering good food at low prices in the heart of Patchway. All profits from the cafe go directly back into their charity work.They are looking out for volunteers to help serve customers, making sandwiches, teas, coffees, cleaning tables and using the dishwasher.

Conservation Volunteering

The Three Brooks Nature Conservation Group was formed by local residents, with the aim of conserving and enhancing the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve for the benefit of the residents and wildlife of Bradley Stoke. The main group meets on the first Saturday of every month (10am - 4pm) and the Green Gym every Thursday (10am - 1pm) to work on the local nature reserve in Bradley Stoke. We carry out practical conservation tasks such as tree felling, coppicing, stream clearing and wildflower planting. We provide all the equipment and training needed plus the essential tea, coffee and biscuits!

Home From Hospital Volunteer

The Red Cross " Home from Hospital" service helps people returning home from a stay in hospital who need a little support to help them return to independence. As a volunteer, you will be able to visit those in need and help them by providing companionship, helping with shopping , light domestic tasks, collecting prescriptions. etc.
